This privacy policy (as of January 2019) is established by the New Republic of the Heart, a 501c3 nonprofit, to clarify what personal data we gather from you while using our website, online trainings, workshops & products and how, when and why we gather it. Read this policy carefully if you are concerned about your privacy while using our website and services. Our website address is:

A New Republic of the Heart is created by and for people waking up to what time it is on the planet. We are moved to ripple our awakening awareness into the body politic. We seek to do this in a way that enables people to move through denial, anger, grief and despair to a new level of joy, gratitude, inspired practice and citizenship.

Our aim is to work on all levels — inside ourselves, in our communities and globally. We seek to bolster health and wholeness on all levels, in all domains of human life. We focus on those recognizing the current human crisis of fragmentation.

Relationship to Terry Patten:

Terry Patten, a widely known and respected teacher, thinker, author, and spiritual practitioner founded the New Republic of the Heart community to implement the vision he developed in his book, A New Republic of the Heart.

The New Republic of the Heart, a 501c3 nonprofit corporation, was established by Terry, to build the assets, platforms, and business to enable the broader New Republic of the Heart community as a social experiment and action oriented community to provide well conceived solutions to difficult problems and to improve the dialog between different and diverse communities as we collectively try to make whole systems change to ensure the survival of humanity.

Terry Patten, as founder, seeded this community with his support and generous donations of much of his content assets and platforms supporting the infrastructure he built around his endeavors. The New Republic of the Heart continues to migrate and consolidate this content to bring it under management. Upon his death, Terry bequeathed much of his content that is now coming under further management by the New Republic of the Heart corporation.

This privacy policy follows the one he used for his business and website at,

Changes to the policy are written directly in the content here and changes are expected over time to reflect the growth of the non-profit organization as it diverges from the original Terry Patten organization.  Upon his death, and subsequent probate, some of the content will remain static until his will is finalized. The policy will be updated and tracked as versions going forward.  And you will be notified via email if you are in our records.

Features Enabled on our Website and data collected:

Contact Form

Data Used: If Akismet is enabled on the site, the contact form submission data — IP address, user agent, name, email address, website, and message — is submitted to the Akismet service (also owned by Automattic) for the sole purpose of spam checking. The actual submission data is stored in the database of the site on which it was submitted and is emailed directly to the owner of the form (i.e. the site author who published the page on which the contact form resides). This email will include the submitter’s IP address, timestamp, name, email address, website, and message.

Data Synced: Post and post meta data associated with a user’s contact form submission. If Akismet is enabled on the site, the IP address and user agent originally submitted with the comment are synced, as well, as they are stored in post meta.

Activity Tracked: This feature sends page view events (and potentially video play events) over to Google Analytics for consumption. For sites running WooCommerce-powered stores, some additional events are also sent to Google Analytics: shopping cart additions and removals, product listing views and clicks, product detail views, and purchases. Tracking for each specific WooCommerce event needs to be enabled by the site owner.

Data Used: In order to process a post like action, the following information is used: IP address, user ID, username, site ID (on which the post was liked), post ID (of the post that was liked), user agent, timestamp of event, browser language, country code.

Activity Tracked: Post likes.

Data Used: Any of the visitor-chosen search filters and query data in order to process a search request on the servers.

Data Used: When sharing content via email (this option is only available if Akismet is active on the site), the following information is used: sharing party’s name and email address (if the user is logged in, this information will be pulled directly from their account), IP address (for spam checking), user agent (for spam checking), and email body/content. This content will be sent to Akismet (also owned by Automattic) so that a spam check can be performed. Additionally, if reCAPTCHA (by Google) is enabled by the site owner, the sharing party’s IP address will be shared with that service. You can find Google’s privacy policy here.

Video Hosting

Data Used: For video play tracking via Stats, the following information is used: viewer’s IP address, user ID (if logged in), username (if logged in), user agent, visiting URL, referring URL, timestamp of event, browser language, country code. If Google Analytics is enabled, video play events will be sent there, as well.

Activity Tracked: Video plays.

By default WordPress which hosts this website does not share any personal data with anyone.
