Biography
Rupert ReadRupert Read teaches Philosophy at the University of East Anglia, where he works alongside leading environmental scientists. He is author of eight books, including This Civilisation is Finished: Conversations on the End of the Empire and What Lies Beyond and his upcoming book, Parents for a Future. He is a former chair of Green House think tank, and is a former Green Party of England and Wales councillor, spokesperson, European parliamentary candidate and national parliamentary candidate. Until recently Rupert was a political strategist for and national UK spokesperson for Extinction Rebellion and is a frequent guest on a range of national UK television and radio programs including Politics Today and Question Time. He is well known for having successfully campaigned in 2018 to get the BBC to end its policy of using climate-deniers to ‘balance’ climate scientists. He recently pledged not to be a source for Murdoch media unless and until they break all affiliations with climate-denialism.
